SCOREKEEPERS / REFS / SCRATCHES
Make sure you understand what your tournament roster is and your responsibilities for maintaining this roster during the tournament. You should scratch non-active players and coaches for each game during the tournament.
It is not mandatory except for the Championship games on Monday. Leaving a non-active player on your roster during the Championship game could cause forfeiture during a shootout situation. See tournament rules for more information.
Scorekeepers — All scorekeepers are contracted employees of the Dr Pepper StarCenters and will be treated with respect during the weekend. I am sure there will be a few minor scoreboard glitches or other situations that will demand a little patience and positive demeanor on the part of all participants.
USA Hockey Code of Conduct violations will be penalized.
***IMPORTANT ITEM***
Scorekeepers are not responsible for the integrity of your roster. If you ask them to make a change such as a player number or player name. they will do so at your own risk.
If you have not had any requested changes, corrections, or amendments previously approved by the Tournament Director you risk forfeiture of that game or suspension of the participant.
Referees — A tournament the size of the Texas Star Winter Classic puts a great deal of strain on the Metroplex Hockey Officials Association. We do bring in referees from a multi-state area and they work very hard during the three days of tournament games. We do have multiple tournaments in the area running simultaneously. Common sense tells us that there will be instances where your opinion and the referee's judgment are at odds. Please ensure you and your team maintain a positive attitude and adhere to the USA Hockey Code of Conduct at all times. Please remind your parents that they are spectators of youth hockey so.
