TOURNAMENT FLEX-SCHEDULE POLICY
FOR MONDAY CONSOLATION GAMES
As noted in the 2010 Texas Star Tournament Winter Classic rules, policies, and procedures, we utilize our flex-schedule policy for Monday consolation games. We receive feedback every year telling us this is a great way to improve the overall tournament experience.
The flex-schedule policy allows the Tournament Director, at his discretion, to seed opponents for the Monday consolation games in the best interest of all teams. This should result in more attractive Monday match-ups versus a standard formula where you may be forced to play a league opponent, round-robin opponent again, or a non-competitive opponent.
You will notice that the tournament bracketing only designated time and place for all divisional consolation games. On Sunday evening, the tournament director will place those teams not competing for the bracket championship in the most beneficial consolation game slot in accordance with the age specific schedule. There will likely be teams that will cross over from one bracket to another, as round-robin play will provide a good indication of team compatibility.
Therefore, it is critical that all team contacts monitor our website Sunday evening to ensure they know exactly when and where their Monday game will be played. It may take us a little longer to seed teams than the automated method but the end result should be a more beneficial and positive conclusion to your tournament.
All championship games will not be affected as far as seeded opponents. Although unlikely, it is possible that a championship game time may be altered through the normal course of the tournament. Always review the tournament website for the most up-to-date information.
As always, getting this information to all team staff and participants is greatly appreciated.
